What is a Supa Shield™ security screen?
Supa Shield™ is a custom-made stainless steel security screen we supply and install across South-East Queensland. We're K&B Security Doors and Shutters, and Supa Shield™ is our own range. It fits hinged doors, sliding doors, windows and patio enclosures, and it's built around SP83 mesh in a powder-coated aluminium frame.
Are Supa Shield™ screens certified to Australian standards?
Yes. Every Supa Shield™ screen is certified to AS 5039-2008, the Australian standard for security screen doors and security screen windows. SP83 mesh also complies with BAL 40, so it suits homes in bushfire-prone areas.
Are you licensed to install security screens in Queensland?
Yes. We hold QBCC licence 1159762, issued by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission, and every Supa Shield™ screen is installed by our own licensed K&B team, not a sub-contractor.
Will a security screen block my view or airflow?
No. With Supa Shield™ you keep the view, and air and light still come through. That's the point of choosing a stainless steel mesh screen over a bar grille: you can leave the door open on a hot night without opening the house up.
Which areas do you service?
We install Supa Shield™ across South-East Queensland, in 5 regions: Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich and Toowoomba.
How much does a Supa Shield™ screen cost?
It depends on the job. Every Supa Shield™ screen is made to measure, so the size of the opening, the type of door or window, the colour and the hardware all move the price. The quickest way to a real number is the Build Your Quote tool on this page: add your openings, send it through, and we'll come out for a free measure and quote.
How long does it take from order to installation?
Typical turnaround on Supa Shield™ is around 3 weeks from order to installation. The free measure and quote is usually arranged within a few days of your enquiry.
Do you make screens to fit my openings, and what colours are available?
Every Supa Shield™ screen is made to measure for your opening. There are 15 standard colours, including Pearl White and Custom Black, and custom powder-coat colours are available at extra cost.
Who measures and installs the screens?
Our own K&B team does the lot. We measure, manufacture, install and warrant every Supa Shield™ screen ourselves, so there's no sub-contractor and no franchise in between.
What mesh is used in Supa Shield™ products?
Every Supa Shield™ product we supply uses SP83 mesh, a hybrid of 304 stainless steel for strength and rigidity and 316 stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
How often should Supa Shield™ screens be cleaned, and how?
How often you clean your Supa Shield™ screens depends on how close you are to the coast, because salt air is what does the damage:
- Less than 1 km from the coast: fortnightly
- 1 to 5 km: monthly
- 5 to 10 km: every 3 months
- More than 10 km: every 6 months
Wipe the mesh and frames with a soft cloth or brush using mild detergent in warm water. Rinse thoroughly, then dry off excess water. It's 10 minutes a few times a year, and it's the difference between a screen that ages well and one that doesn't.
What does the Supa Shield™ warranty cover?
Your Supa Shield™ stainless steel mesh and powder-coated aluminium frames are covered for 10 years from installation against defects in materials or workmanship, including corrosion, holes and tears, under normal use. Accessories such as locks, handles, hinges and pet doors carry a 12-month warranty. Full terms, including exclusions, are in the Supa Shield™ Warranty Information document, which you can download from the Download Resources section of this page.
How do I report a fault or make a warranty claim?
Let us know within 30 days of noticing a fault with your Supa Shield™ screens and we'll come back and look after it. Both fault reports and warranty claims go through kbportal.com.au, where you can add photos and your invoice number, or the surname, address and approximate installation date if you can't find the invoice. Our K&B office is open Monday to Friday, 07:30-15:30.
How do I get a free measure and quote?
Tell us which openings you're thinking about, either through the Build Your Quote tool on this page or by phoning the number for your region, and we'll book a free measure and quote at your place. There's no charge and no obligation to go ahead, and you'll get honest advice on what suits your home rather than a hard sell.
